Economy

Currency- Our people’s currency is a system like the dollar system in the United States. They pay a small amount of taxes.
Agriculture- They grows fruits, vegetables, grapes, olives, and grain. They also raise domesticated animals such as cows, chickens, and sheep.
“Industry” or trade- Our people trade the surplus of food. They also make clay pots to trade with other people. They trade with people from Southern Europe.
Division of labor- The women do the hunting and the men do the cooking and cleaning. The children help out when needed.

Technology

Tools- Our people use iron to make hammers and nails. Other metals that they used were bronze, copper, and brass. They use marble to make plates and buildings. They would chip away at the marble to make the plates and other house hold items. They would grab a handful of dry grass to use as brooms to sweep out the dirt in their homes.
Transportation- Our people ride wagons pulled by donkeys. They started out by making boxes out of wood to store stuff. The boxes were too heavy to lift when they wanted to move the boxes. They invented the wheel and put two wheels on the ends of a log on the bottom of the box. All they had to do then was push it or have a donkey pull the box on wheels. Soon after that they would use the boxes to carry people and it soon developed into a wagon with seats and they made it easy to get in and out of.
Calendar- Our calendar is 365 days a year with 12 months and each month has 30 days. We use the other 5 days as lazy days.
Irrigation/Agriculture-Our people dig ditches from the river to water their crops. The river would also flood to water the crops. They grew fruits, vegetables, grapes, olives, and grain. They raised domesticated animals such as cows, sheep, and chickens.
Scientific Knowledge- Our people learns how to make boats. They start by watching people float on logs, but they would fall off of the log. They figured that if you carve out some of the log they could sit in it and float across the water. The fishermen used the boats to go fishing.

Creation Myth

In the beginning there were five gods. They were tired of having no one flattering them with prayers and were also tired of having to do everything by themselves. So they elected two of the gods, the god of air (Percious) and the god of land (Infindel)l , to make the earth and to create servants for the rest of the gods. So the god of air and god of land made the human race. But the servants were rebellious and did not listen to the gods. There was a great war between god and man. The gods who created the humans were banished to the earth for creating the humans. Percious and Infindel were enraged. They joined the human side and helped them win against the gods. Now and forever more the gods were the servants of the people.

Social Organization

The farmers roles where the men had to stay home and cook and clean. The women every two days would climb down the ladders and go into the woods and hunt for food such as deer, elk, and tend to domestic animals. Men at home would wash clothes, dishes, and also sweep. When the women got home they would bring food to eat for her and the men which would be her husband.
The social classes the king, scribes, and priests are the wealthy ones because they lived in marble houses and not in the trees like the farmers had too.
This was a polytheistic culture. Polytheism, which is they believe in more than one god.
Education was for both boys and girls, they had to go at the age of 12. When boys turned 17 they have to go to the military while girls keep on going to school until they turn 18 it’s just one more year of school for girls after the boys leave to the military.
In the social classes the king is the first in the social classes, scribes are the second in the social classes, the third are the priests those three social classes live on a hill in marble house, and last the fourth are the farmers they live up in the trees.

The Government

The type of government is a limited monarchy. This means that there is a king that rules, but his powers are limited because there are laws saying what he can and can't do.  If he wants to do something it has to be reasonable and make sense. If any one had a problem with this they were allowed to talk with the king about it. If not everyone agreed then they also held a vote to see which option won. They would have two huge rooms if you wanted to have the option you would go into one room and if you didn’t want it you would go in the other. Then some of the king’s workers would count how many people where in each room and the room with the most people won the vote. If most all the people seemed to agree then he would go along with his plan. So if you didn’t want what the king was going to do then you better go and complain.
If the king died then normally his son would become king. If there was no one to go to the people picked another king. If the people did not like their king them they could get him removed by the same voting process that was described above. If he was removed then they would find somebody else to rule. The people liked having their say on things so they seemed to like the government.
Laws were fairly simple because if you did something bad there was a consequence. A few examples were:
Do not steal, if you steal them you have to give back what you stole and you go to a place that is like modern day jail for half a year. Also in that half a year you had to help in the fields and if there were animals that needed butchered you had to do that, without any pay.
Do not murder, harm or hurt anyone, if you did then you had to go to jail for the rest of your life and you had to be a butcher because they didn’t want them to get near other people.
If there were other crimes then they punished them according to how bad the crime was. There sentence was also based on what the crime was, the worse it was the longer they were in jail and the longer they had to work. If they were extremely bad then they were put to death. This though wasn’t used very much because they would rather have the people work for their crimes so things that they normally had to pay people to do, got done for no pay.

Environment of the Po River

The Po River runs through the northern part of what is now Italy and enters into the Adriatic Sea which is where our civilization is located. Since it is has a higher longitude than the equator, it gets a little bit cooler in the winter time but, in the summer it has a good growing season. The Po River is our main source of water; it floods in the summer a few times but the main way to get water to the fields is the ditches that are built and run alongside some of the fields. People are able to get water out of the ditches if they need it for any thing. In the winter in snows in the mountains (the Alps) at the headwaters of the Po River when it melts, we get the runoff and that is what causes it to flood.
There are many natural resources located in the area inclusing marble, copper, zinc and other stones and metals. There are many trees located in the area so we decided to make houses in the trees to escape the yearly floods. The good fertile soil had good growing conditions so we grew fruit, vegetables, grapes, grains, and olives. The people also had a type of boat that they could go out in to the water and gather fish also. The land had native grass areas that allowed our domesticated animals to graze so when the time was right they could be butchered.
The climate that is near the civilization is a Mediterranean climate. This means that it is warm and mostly dry. That’s why we depend on the river mainly for irrigation. The winter though is cool and wet. The snow that falls in the mountains help the river stay flowing year round.
